Notes Blog Core 1.0 Now Available

I’m happy to announce that Notes Blog Core 1.0 is available in the wordpress.org themes directory! In the coming week I’ll be digging into the Core theme and what you can do with it, as well as release at least one child theme.

The following is slated for coming soon.

  • The Core Plus child theme, which will add some bling to the otherwise pretty minimalistic theme.
  • Child theme tutorial that’ll help you make the most of the Core theme.
  • Look for more tips and tutorials in the Manual section.
  • Featured sites will start to roll out as well, with some linkage and things like that.

Naturally, the Core theme page will get an update as well, as will most of the notesblog.com site. Everything will be happening a little bit at a time so bear with me please.

And be sure to give Core 1.0 a shot!

I loved the simplicity with which the noteblog theme offer. I may be using the same theme in my homepage (deuts.net) soon. I’m just waiting for the right time to do it and change my theme.

I still wonder, though, how does it handle gallery (from the built in wordpress gallery feature) by default. I would love to browse some sample gallery or anybody post a link to where they’re using this theme for gallery.

        Thanks.

I’m not sure, but I guess you missed explaining about how to add ‘asides’ in this theme as you do in the home page. Thanks.

        • The Asides are actually a part of the Plus child theme, which I’ll release within two weeks as a part of the child theme concept tutorials. I did initially have that sort of functionality in the theme, but removed it due to it not being general enough to really be in a Core theme. Also it localized poorly.

I would like to report a bug. Although, this could easily be fixed by a child theme, I just would like to bring this to your attention.

When there are paginated comments, it seems the div class navigation is broken. I guess there should be a display:block in that so that comments will not move upwards beside/between the the older and newer comments link. Please take a look at this at the comment section. Please take a look also at the navigation after the comment list and before the comment form.

By the way, I tried installing Disqus commenting system with this theme. What happened was it broke my rss feed. I’m not sure whether it was with the theme or the Disqus that was making the error. I’m wondering if you can help.

        • I really doubt that is a theme issue since there are no special hacks or any alters to the feed creation. That being said, I’ll try and test it out later this week, totally swamped right now.

          Some questions:
          - Do you run Feedburner att the same time?
          - Is it all RSS feeds, or just some?
          - Have you tried rebuilding (ie saving again) your permalinks?

Hmmm I think I posted my last comment a little wrong…

Q: I’ve a normal page, about where I set comments off and pings on. But still I get at that page underneath the title the little meta bar with “Author” and “0 comments”. This last quote should not be there ofcourse… bug?

Another question; it would be nice if the comments of the author could be highlighted? For example another background color in the div?

I would do it myself but I don’t know what the php function is, or if there is even one, to check if the author of a reply is the author of the website.

  5. Its a great theme, i simply love it would be using it at my MU installation, it has got a great and beautiful set of fonts and undeniable simplicity which isn’t for the sake of it but gives elegance and royalty to the great theme. more of such class are Cleanr, Thematic and Hybrid. would be using all these.
Once again great work… congratulations for such a design
